Lakewood

Lakewood, Ohio is a beautiful lakefront community, experiencing significant growth in population, with over 57,000 residents. It is also home to an award winning school system. The Lakewood City School in Cleveland, Ohio is a 41,000 sq. ft. facility designed and constructed by Mobilease. The building is serving as a temporary school on the same site as a new school is under construction.

There were no ideal locations to build a much-needed new school to meet the population demands and there was a desire to remain in the same location. The school consists of three school buildings currently in use, including one built in the 1930’s, one built in the 1940’s and one built in the 1960’s. There were no other schools in the vicinity to place the students and it was preferred not to separate students, faculty, and staff into different schools.

Mobilease designed a 41,000 sq. ft. school to house over 800 students. The building would remain on the current school site and placed in the location of the softball field. The building was configured in a u-shape to accommodate the available space. The two buildings constructed in the 30’s and 40’s will be demolished and those students will move to the temporary facility. A new school will be built and once completed the entire school population will move to the new building and the third older structure will be removed.
